Allium tuberosum Also know as Oriental Chives, these chives have a mild garlic flavor.
Classification: Perennial Height: 12-18 inches Sow: Late Winter or Early Spring, 1/4 inch deep Germination Time: 8 to 13 days Scarification: Germination may be assisted by soaking seeds in warm water for 24 hours prior to sowing. Prefers full light. Flowers white flowers form during early summer. May go dormant during hot summers and resume growth in the fall. Will reseed if not harvested before seeds scatter. Thrives in well-drained soil, rich with organic matter. Hardy in Zones 3 to 9.
