The past couple weeks, outdoor highs have been near or in triple digits. Two nights ago, we had a crazy cold front come in that dropped temperatures forty degrees! (Glad I keep an eye on the weather report!) A few hours before the front moved in, I turned off the greenhouse misters and turned up the thermostat on the fan to help retain some heat so the cold would not be such a shock for the plants. |

I was out in the greenhouse the other day tending to my “babies” thinking about the lack of gardening shows and over-abundance of landscaping shows on television these days. In an effort to get some kind of television gardening fix, I do admit that I watch landscape programming however end up frustrated most of the time. |

Joining in on the tradition started by May Dreams Gardens Blog, the 15th of every month is Garden Bloggers' Bloom Day.
I had a fun surprise waiting for me in the greenhouse. The scarlet sage that I have been growing for the landscape bloomed! The plant is still too young to bloom, I'd rather plant grew larger first. So I ended up trimming the bloom stalk, but not before I snapped a picture of it. |

Okay, so September is usually hot here in Southern Nevada. This year is has been above normal so I have not been able to start the fall vegetables yet. That's okay, I suppose! I'd really like to be starting seeds right now, perhaps next week... |

Seems like the usual, August is hot, hot, hot. Did I mention that August is hot? Fortunately, most of the plants seem to love the managed conditions in the greenhouse. The mesquite trees and the other desert plants that I have started are growing like crazy. |
