June Greenhouse Update

This month, the big greenhouse battle has been with thrips.  Oh, these little guys nearly drove me to insecticidal genocide!  But the problem now looks like it is under control.

I lost my beans and the cucumbers and melons sustained heavy damage.  The tomatoes were also attacked, but only the older lower leaves.  With some creative pruning, hopefully the plants will be fine.  The funny part is all my trees were left unscathed, which I am not complaining!

Otherwise, all is happy in the greenhouse.  A large area of the benches has become a tomato making factory.  The yellow pear tomatoes have been delicious and I am anxiously awaiting the ripening of the others.

Outside temperatures are high of 90 and low of 69, with inside temperatures at 92 degrees and low of 66.  The fan runs steadily and mist turns on for two hours during the hottest part of the day.
