Last year, I added ice plant along the edges of the dry river bed not really knowing how well it would do and wow, was I surprised. It filled in really well and blooms like wildfire. So, this year I decided to add in ice plant with orange blooms since all the blooms in the landscape are purple and orange.
I've read that for some folks, ice plant can be invasive and should not be planted where it can grow rampant. Our landscape is covered in weed cloth and landscape rock and the ice plant behaves itself by not growing past its hole in the weed cloth.
