Sweet violet is European native, and has been introduced and naturalized into the United States.  The flowers are either purple/violet or white in color and are quite fragrant.

May be considered invasive.  Readily reseeds if not deadheaded.

Classification: Perennial
Height: 6-12 inches
Sow: Fall or in the Spring after the last frost
Light: Full sun to partial shade.

Hardy in Zones 4 through 9.

Prefers rich, cool soil to germinate.  Sweet violet will require a cold stratification if sowed indoors.  Will tolerate alkaline soil.

To collect seeds, bag the flower on the plant as the seeds will self-scatter when mature.
