The bulb itself is sensitive to frost and excessive moisture. Keep your plant in well-draining soil to prevent the bulb from rotting. Once the flower show is over, allow your plant to produce leaves, as this is how it will store the energy for next year’s flowers.
A pot-bound plant will produce more flowers. When the temperatures cool to sixty degrees, cut back on watering to allow the plant to have a rest period, typically six to weeks. Once the plant begins to shoot up new leaves or flower spikes, resume regular watering.
